Odibets awards KSh 1 million to tree-hugging record breaker Truphena Muthoni for climate drive

Kenyan environmental conservationist Truphena Muthoni has received a significant financial boost of KSh 1 million from betting firm Odibets to amplify her climate advocacy.
The funding comes on the heels of her extraordinary feat where she unofficially secured a new world record by completing a grueling 72-hour non-stop tree-hugging marathon.
Muthoni’s marathon effort surpassed her previous personal best of 48 hours, marking a major milestone in global climate activism. While the 72-hour achievement is currently awaiting formal ratification as a Guinness World Record, the act has already successfully shone a spotlight on the urgent need for environmental restoration.
Odibets General Manager Dedan Mungai, who presented the support package, praised Muthoni’s physical and mental resilience. He noted that her dedication serves as a powerful example for young people and environmental champions across the nation.
“We are delighted to boost Truphena Muthoni’s quest. Her unwavering commitment to environmental conservation is truly admirable, and we believe this support will help her scale her efforts and inspire more Kenyans to take action towards a greener future,” said Mr. Mungai.
Muthoni explained that her goal is to use symbolic, high-visibility acts like the marathon to draw public attention to critical issues such as deforestation and pollution. She expressed gratitude to Odibets for recognizing the seriousness of her mission and investing in its future.
The KSh 1 million injection is earmarked for practical environmental interventions. According to the conservationist, the funds will facilitate mass tree-planting drives, community environmental education programs, and public campaigns designed to encourage Kenyans to take active steps in protecting their surroundings.
The collaboration comes at a time when climate concerns are intensifying globally, positioning Kenya at the forefront of creative and enduring activism for sustainability.
